Does a lower powered MX bike like the KX100 make a good trail bike? I've been looking at a CRF230F until the KX100 caught my attention.

A lot of guys swear by them for trails. I think it makes a lot of sense for a lighter (and/or shorter) rider. You can really toss them around. The front suspension is quite primitive, but this can be fixed (but not cheaply) with YZ85 internals.

I have a very highly-developed one I'll likely (it's difficult for me to part with) be selling in the spring. I've used mine for MX, trails, supermoto, and DCTC. It will be sold with dirt wheels/tires and 17" GP125 wheels/slicks/rains.

Rocky mtn atv or Motorsport. what parts do you need?

Stuff like bark busters, oil/air filters, riding gear, a stand, maybe a lower seat, etc.

I would recommend fat bars. 7/8 bars bend super easy

I've got a 98 KX250 with a '12 motor and bodywork. Rebuilt forks last season. Low miles on the top end rebuild. Will be putting it up for sale in spring. Offers welcome :)

rocky mtn atv has hot deals on gear right now. as far as seat height goes, a lot of guys lower them. you can get used to the height tho so id ride it a bunch first. before I paid to have the suspension professionally lowered id toss a lowering link at it (devol, pro circuit etc) and raise the forks what I could. I agree its a tall bike, if you stand more you notice it less.

He ain't gonna be racing. His original plan was to get a fun trail bike and enjoy the ride.
I've sat down plenty when just putzing around the woods.
Nothing wrong with sitting.

I was trying to buy a nicely setup '17 on Craigslist but the idiot didn't answer my emails all week.
Oh well. I love the blue wheels on the '18s.
