Topics I've Started

  1. WTB Gauntlets and boots

    25 June 2018 - 07:04 AM

For glove sizing, Alpinestars SP-2 large fits me but Held Phantom large is a little too tight, so I'm looking for something in the Large to XL range.

For boot sizing, I wear ~12-12.5 in Men's shoes.

I do 2-5 track days a year, so I'm not looking to spend a whole lot. Anybody got anything sitting around that they want to get rid of?
  2. Chain Question

    22 June 2018 - 12:00 PM

How often do you guys on trackbikes go through chains? Do you think this would be a good investment?

  3. Registration/Insurance on track bike?

    18 June 2018 - 07:06 AM

First time I've owned a bike that wasn't street legal (with no intentions of it ever being street legal).

However, the guy I bought it from had it registered and kept the tabs updated on it, so it came with a clean title and a license plate. I'm going to transfer the title so that he doesn't have to deal with tab renewal notices and whatever, but are you required to register a motorcycle and keep the tabs up-to-date if it's not street legal and not being used on public roads?

Also, do most people have private track insurance? or regular auto insurance? or no vehicle insurance at all? If you crash at the track and have medical bills, will health insurance cover that since it's not on public roads? I'd imagine it's similar to crashing an uninsured ATV on private property, but I'm not sure.
  4. Sold 1 bike, bought 3 more to replace it

Bought these 3 (only with the proceeds from selling the GSXR, nothing extra):

  5. Adding outlets to garage

    07 June 2018 - 08:57 AM

I have a 3 car garage with only 3 outlets. The outlets are above the main 2 stall (for the garage door opener), above the third stall (for the garage door opener), and one outlet on the center of the back wall (currently used up for sprinkler system and invisible fence). The electrical panel (200amp with lots of extra room) is in the back corner of the garage on one of the side walls. The entire garage is sheetrocked and the seams are taped/mudded.

I want to add 1-2 outlets on the back wall and 2-3 on the side wall that has the panel on it. I'd really rather not take the sheetrock down to do so, but I'm considering it. I'm also considering either PVC or metal conduit on the outside of the sheetrock so i don't have to mess with the sheetrock at all. I'm not 100% sure what is code for attached garages.

I don't know what all is on the existing circuit and how difficult it would be to tap in to it. If I were to run PVC or metal conduit on the outside of the sheetrock without tapping into the existing circuit, my plan was to add a 20 amp circuit and run 12-2 romex. Most of my usage is a pancake air compressor, small saws (table, miter, circular), stereo, etc., so nothing too big. I have no problem hooking up outlets/lights, but haven't opened a panel to add a circuit before.

    Any feedback/advice/warnings?
