Crashed (lightly) my project CBR1000 yesterday trying to warm it up in my cul-de-sac yesterday. Messed up stator cover, barend, bar, clutch lever, tailsection and broken mirror. Rashed elbow, shoulder, bruised hip, broken glasses and smashed up hand.

Cold, brand new tires. Tight turn, slightly sandy pavement. 150 hp, slightly rusty clutch hand. It all ads up to a shitty day.

Good thing was I had most of the bodywork off as I was doing a complete fluid change when it happened. Sigh, DON'T RUSH THE SEASON!!!! I wasn't even doing anything other than going 10-15 mph trying to circulate the oil a bit.

Sorry to hear about downing that project man! I've been out every single afternoon for about two weeks now and have only had a close call... I think I've just got some dumb luck or something. On the way to Blaine from South St Paul today had to punch some stupid blonde cagers window as she seemingly attempted to politely smush me between her accord and the dually on the left. Heavy traffic, had no way out. Ride accordingly to the road conditions and the weather will be the least of your worries.

Thanks, not much to heal up and the bike was together later that night and is runable as is. More frustrating than anything as I spent so much time, trouble and well money on getting rid of the majority of the old crash damage only to create more.

Like I said, just 10 mph in front of our towhouse complex road up and down a few times then was heading into the garage to change the oil when BAM! Handlebar and stator cover are the big things. Prolly get that stuff ordered today.

Sorry to hear that man. I've clocked about 200 miles this year, with no close calls (knock on wood). Actually rode to work this morning.

I was able to get out Saturday and put about 40 miles in. Probably going to have to wait another week or so before I can ride again based upon the forecast

Another thing is be weary of puddles. I almost dumped quite a few years back pulling into a gas station. There was a little puddle from the street into the gas station. What I didn't realize until i was going through it, was that puddle covered up a MASSIVE pothole!

FWIW, I have no problem waiting another 2-weeks until the salt and sand are completely gone.

EDIT: I didn't look at the calendar right. I guess it's closer to 3-weeks.

You are a bad, bad man.

It's still early enough you could switch to ice chunks before they disappear!

I agree....although the driveway in front of my house proved too tempting!!!!

It sucks, If I had actually been able to ride the roads I would have gotten the tires hot enough to burn a lot of the slick off. I pushed the season, pushed myself as I wanted to get the fluids changed and getthat bike ready; oh well.

Found most of the parts, got most of them on order, still waiting on a couple eBay best offers.
