Good points Katie, although just to clarify, it's not illegal to have a child in the front seat. It's not recommended, but not illegal (but my intent here was never to argue/debate the safety of having a child in a Slingshot, only to satisfy my curiosity on the laws around it).

Q: Can my child sit in the front seat?
A: Minnesota does not have a law prohibiting this. It is considered safest and the best practice to keep children in the back seat until they reach age 13. Some states do prohibit transporting children in the front seat until they are 13 years old.

God, I'm old enough to remember fastening the seat belt underneath us so the buzzer wouldn't go off. No way I'd remember all those rules.

My bad! Either way, not safe until 13 :)

After 2 really bad car accidents caused by other people, I go to the extreme with car seats. They saved my kids lives twice.

I think the big thing about children in front seats is airbags? Not so sure a slingshot has airbags.

Right, it's recommended that you turn off airbags if you need to put children in the front seat (like in a pickup without a back seat). Slingshot doesn't have airbags, so not sure if it's a general "not recommended but no laws preventing children/car seats in a Slingshot"

This is what I thought as well. That and the back seat is just generally safer. But this wouldnít apply to a slingshot.

I would be curious what to laws would be for kids in a slingshot! Iím shocked they donít have them spelled out already!

Assume they would be the same as non-back row seated cars/trucks?
