    There is no provision or exception for tail numbers in that wording. I wish it were so, but it does not say that. If it was meant to say either/or, then it failed to do so. When in doubt, do what the printed rulebook says.


    That's a subsection, you're reading. The section above says you can run one or the other. If the numbers are displayed on the lower, that section applies.

    Hey folks,

    The intent of the rule is that if you can't clearly display a number on your tail, side numbers need to be used instead, and be placed on both sides of the bike. No need to run both side and tail numbers. We'll take note to update the rulebook.
