My brother told me this today and I was dubious. Here's a link to the story: https://www.roadandt...car-seller-fee/

But more importantly, I went to Craigslist and started the process of listing a car and sure enough it says, "(please note - $5 fee per ad starting april 15) ($5 per post)."

Does not appear to apply to motorcycles... yet.

Maybe it will keep some of the scammers and bots off of it?

Was thinking the same thing.

There's still no charge for parts. I imaging there are going to be a few compete cars offered "for parts", though. I can see it now, "Free car if you buy my $3500 headlight."

I don't blame them. There's dealers selling on there all the time. It's basically free ad space for every used and new car dealer. No real way to tell who's a 3rd party and who's a dealer. $5 isn't much when you're selling a car. And if this does dissuade scammers and poor quality listings, I'm game.

CL needs some revenue to update their site anyway. It's functional, but could be so much better with a little work.

I always flag it when dealers post as owner. Dealers already had to pay a fee to list.

I love this move. I buy and sell a borderline stupid amount of shit on craigslist. $5 is a minimal fee, and I am happy to pay it when selling my own vehicles. First and foremost I hope this small barrier to entry will reduce the number of poorly done overpriced quintuple posted BS ads (not to mention scam ads) that I have to sort through when looking for something that is actually worth it. I hope they add it for motorcycle ads too.

I was curious how you actually pay the fee. See: https://www.craigsli...lp/posting_fees

Craigslist should have a much better idea who's posting if there's a financial record.

Also, it's $5 every 30 days.
