Love road tripping to find what you really want. Only once I traveled to Kansas City for a bike that I didn't buy.

And the gas mileage really isn't that bad. I average 16 ish in the summer with my tundra and I got 17.6 with an ecotoot f150 last summer. I don't think fords are bad I just know a lot of guys with bad experiences. Everyone that i have met with a tundra just raves about it, so there ya go.

I just sold my 2004 silverdo 2500 with the 6.0/4l80. Moved into an 09 duramax/allison. I love it. I drive it daily, but it tows my camper nearly every weekend, year round. I have friends with ecoboosts that swear by them. But when they start towing stuff as heavy as what I do, the start getting 7-8mpg. If you aren't towing often, The eco booms seem to be a pretty nice truck. You can throw a programmer on them and really open them up for power/mileage. My old man has a 15 or 16 ecoboom with a mild tune on it and it goes pretty good. He just got 22mpg coming down to the cities from Britt ( Virginia/Iron range area.)

Wish I could do this to my tundra. I would probably end up keeping it. But I have a flex fuel meh...

This is why I don't get a diesel. Diesels get just as bad mileage as a gasser when towing big stuff. Yea it might be easier, but thats it...

What? No. Our 5th wheel is usually around 14k-15k pounds all loaded up and we very rarely get below 10mpg in our diesel, usually only because there was a stiff head wind. If we have a nice tailwind I can get closer to 12.

If I was towing a half ton towable trailer (let's say 4,000-6,000 pounds normal enclosed trailer) I would expect to get 11-13mpg.

I have been expanding my search area. I keep thinking of doing this. The guy who bought my 690 Smc flew in and I picked him up. Seems like a fun adventure.

Is there a reason you wouldn’t go Chevy again? I have an ‘02 1500HD, and honestly don’t have much to complain about. I’ve had to replace the fuel pump, that’s it (along with routine stuff like brakes and tires). I’m assuming the PO did front end stuff because that’s still tight at about 170,000 miles. It does have the typical Chevy rust in the rockers and cab corners, but I guess that can be expected in a 16 year old truck in MN. The 6.0 motor seems to be pretty damn reliable; I know it’s not the horsepower king these days, but it pulls/hauls everything I’ve asked it to.
