Just curious about how many other "Oldheimers" troll this site. Over the years a few folks from here have come along on my "Hill Country" rides. I do shorter rides North & West of metro and am always happy to find companions. Perhaps some of you gave up on the "Caribou Death Rides" and are looking for tamer putts. Guzzi John :usa:

I wouldn't consider myself "elderly", but at 64, I'm more of a "junior" senior citizen.
I also ride around the northwest area, Sherburne and Wright counties.
And I picked up a dual-sport, mostly for riding up north in Lutsen, where I have my summer camp. Gravel roads and gravel pits!

We went for a ride West some years back. I figured you were still around. I swapped Futura for '15 EX300 last Fall. Now my big bike is an blue '00 SV650 w 66k-might be yours if you sold it. The SV worked fine last week in the Hills-not as comfy or great handling as the Aprilia but much lighter and 56+ mpg. GJ :dancin:

At 53 I guess I'm an elderly in training... :biglaugh:
Keep posting John. I'll be retiring in 10 years, then I'll join you for weekday rides.

Iím 45 and ride like a geezer, but as others have already said Iím stuck being a working stiff and getting off during the week for riding is tough. Itís also tough for me to get up and going early enough to be 1 1/2 hours away by 9 AM but the plan is to catch one of these rides yet this year.

I'm in Champlin-about 100mi from wayside. I leave at 7am. I know it isn't easy but the guys that do show up are for real. We've been discussing the difficulty of getting leaders/planners on MNMSTA. The bottom line is that I'm very grateful for anyone that shows up. GJ :soap:

I'm 34, so according to this title, I'm old.

For reference, I first rode a real motorcycle ('91 YZ125) when I was 13 years old and that was in 1997.

Weekdays I'm doing embedded systems code for medical devices.
Weekends I'm cutting down trees.
I'll ride every day but it's just to work and back.
54 now but my current retirement plan is to work until I'm dead so, no, wish I could but rides for fun don't seem to be in my future.

I did just ride down to Phoenix and back in March but that was business as well.
In case you are bored: Phoenix Trip ST1300

Keep posting ride notices. Maybe I'll join you sometime. At least they will continue to make me jealous I can't join.

I worked at the U for 34 years and commuted by bike-don't miss rush hour lunacy!

I love rush hour lunacy (but I do try to commute before 6 or after 9).
I enjoy the video-game you-can't-catch/hit-me challenge.
As a friend (acquaintance?) says "if you don't notice someone trying to kill you on every ride...you're not paying enough attention"

I "worked" at the U for 3 years teaching math while in the doctorial program. Commuted from Hudson and back every day. Parked the 1986 Nighthawk S in my office on the 3rd floor.

Ah, memories...

Soon this forum could be called "MN Geriatric Bikers". It's funny to think it started back in 2004. The original 20-somethings are now 30-something and have families and responsibilities.

As Mike Weber pointed out in a for-sale thread, the market for sportbikes sucks right now. I don't think the general decline in participation here can be completely attributed to Facebook.

I hang around because I refuse to use Facebook and I like reading the CRA news.

For me, the temptation of a 150+ horsepower sportbike seems like an excellent way to lose driving privileges. I'm sure I'll own a streetbike again someday, but for now the challenge of off-road riding holds much greater appeal.
