Yup, and a healthy bump in horsepower (over 1hp gain). I can't remember what torque was at, but now it's 7.7lb-ft.
I hope the 5-speed transmission is compatible with the old motor. The Takegawa 5-speed is super spendy and I imagine buying OEM could potentially be much cheaper. I might also check to see if the new headlight is affordable. The 2017 headlight sucked. It's LED, but pretty dim. The high beam was worthless, too.
OH, I also noticed in the pics that they FINALLY(!!!!!) came out with new axle adjusters. That has been a major weak point on the Grom. Not sure how good the new ones are, but they sure do look a hell of a lot beefier than the OG and SF generations.

Put my deposit down on a white ‘22 Grom SP last week. It’ll be here sometime between now and December which blows but it’s been too long without one and picking up my dad a ‘21 Trail 125 has reignited my love of the little bikes.

I'm curious how that new 5-speed works for the Grom. The new look has made for some critical opinions, but I like the new look. I think some people just get stuck on the design they have.

I wasn't sure if I liked it as much as the second gen Grom, which I think is awesome looking, BTW, but it's grown on me and the 5 speed should make it a fun bike that I will be more likely to keep. The fact it's built for taller riders is a good thing as well.
I really was after a Monkey, specifically a yellow one, but they are like unbelievably hard to get and overpriced, even used. I was able to score the '22 SP for $500 under a '19 Monkey, kind of a no brainer in my book. I called all over and other than a shop in NC (long story why I called them, but they've been good me) no one would move off of MSRP on any Grom or Monkey, no matter the year, they had in stock. And even then NC only offered me $200 off of their orange '20, still not worth not getting a '22.
Planning on putting on a set of Dual Sport tires on it, but it will pretty much be street ridden.

That white looks great! Did you go with the non-ABS? I do like the little bikes but I feel like if I had a Grom and a Zuma 125 in the garage, I'd take the scoot 9/10.

The white is only available non-abs. For '22 ABS only comes in blue; great color, not as good as the white

The scooter/Grom thing is a tough one. When I had my scooter, I wanted a Grom. Then when I got a Grom I thought a scooter would actually be more useful, so I sold my Grom and now I want a Grom again because I never really ride the scooter. Might have to have both.......

Both
Both

Yup, that’s what I’m leaning towards. No idea where I’m going to store it, the garage is already jam packed, but I’m thinking I’ll keep both at least initially.

Dilemma time:
I originally set out to get a yellow Monkey and when I couldn't find one, "settled" on the '22 Grom. Guess what I just found? Damn, as much as I want the Grom I am thinking about picking up the overpriced Monkey instead.
Or maybe in the meantime is a better way to look at it?
Decisions........

That's a lot of extra money to pay for a retro look. That's just me, but I'd get the Grom.

Yup, rethought about it and I’m sticking with the Grom.
