Lived a lot of different places in this world and i will say the Midwest is the worst. It has winters that drag on and on. Living in MI right now the locals are telling me that it is normal not to see above 50 until May. What the fuck is that shit. This has to be the cloudiest state too. Donít even get me started on the drivers! They see a rain drop or a flake of snow driving speeds are cut in half. What the fuck. Needless to say I am ready for track days and barbecuing in shorts.

The end

I have considered moving out of state many times. MN summers are hard to beat, though.

I can argue, but I see your point. The cost/benefit analysis for most people likely points to a mass exodus. I'm pretty sure it's nice (but short) summers and friends/family that keeps most people around. It certainly isn't the state government and tax rates.

Not going to even pretend I enjoy winters. After living in Hawaii for 5 years and Virginia for 2 years, Minnesota is terrible. Winter is my least favorite half of the year and I'm ready to move back to a warmer climate. A 10+ month riding season is also very missed.

I commute from Howell Mi to Allen Park every day.

I will agree that weather causes travel time to increase exponentially.

What I still dont understand is the states road maitainence. Fixing roads is a different subject. I'm just confused why they only use the belly blade and side blade not a snow blade in front of the truck. Salting is very curious too. Some time there will be salt truck out to beat the bad, other time crickets and the roads are shit.

I guess it's fun to play "Who's lane is it anyways?"

You dont need to use the front plow when you have a rear wing, an underbelly and wing does just fine up to a foot of snow. Salt use can be different based on the machine, the operator, and especially temperature. Salt works really slow when it's below 15*. Among a million other variables...

2 kids under 3, career change and move across the country in 2017. Not much $$$ for racing, let alone a new expensive hobby lol
