A friend did something similar, partly because he had a lot of stuff laying around. It's an FZR1000 / ZX6 (636) Frankenbike. Lots of complications because the FZR was carburated and the ZX was EFI. Not sure how well it performed, but it persuaded him that he liked sport-touring enough to buy a Multistrada.

Motor in this R6 donor is junk, but what's a normal 06-07 engine worth? Runs, unknown miles (no cluster), slight clatter/clicking for about half second on cold start up. Is valve noise common, cam chain, just the time it takes to get cold-thick oil to the top end?

I'd say 700-1200 depending on mileage and condition. The 08-16 motors are more desirable for a number of reason. I see those go for 1100-2500.
