So, all of this talk of the formula 450 bikes got my creative juices going. I pulled some parts off of shelves, picked up a dirtbike for a donor, and think I have a fun project and hopefully a solid race platform.
1991 Honda Hawk Gt frame, 04 Gsxr 600 forks with ohlins 25mm kit, 2015 YZ450F engine. Once I finish with fabrication it’ll get some air tech Honda RS250 bodywork. I’ll do my best to keep pics coming.

This has been a great few days of new projects and real motorcycle talk on MNSBR. Looking forward to what happens here too.
Looks like the Honda Hawk had a wet weight of 412lbs. Will be interesting to see what the finished project weight is.

The roller with wheels is sitting at 128lbs. I can shave 15 off by switching to Ducati wheels but that’ll be next year. This project should end up being around 260lbs or so.

A little sad to see you do this to a Honda hawk. They are becoming so rare and are such a unquie bike from Honda.
This will be an interesting project and an ultimate DCTC weapon. Looking forward to pictures and updates as they come

I bought a street one years ago that came with a spare frame. The frame was tweaked from an accident. When this is finished it is being sent to velocity in St. Louis to be straightened. It will be good for dctc but I am hoping it will be competitive in ultralight. We will see!
If you are interested in a street one then mine will be for sale.

Nonsense. One more Hawk on track where it belongs and one less piece of history languishing under a old fish house, 2 broken huffy's and a pile of paint tarps in the back of the garage.

Well, the first step was letting a Kramer owner post. The sky is the limit now.

This is awesome. This used to be a popular chassis for big singles, nice to see you do it.
