Anyone every ridden on the red dot trail near Beaver Bay / Silver Bay? My brother has a place in Beaver Bay, and the trail starts @ 100 yards from his back door.

I am visiting him with my kids later this month, and thinking about bringing the dirt bikes. Wondering what the trail is like, with 10 and 12 year old riders in mind. DNR map says "ATV" but does not list "OHM". Are there trails that allow ATVs but not dirt bikes?

That is a ATV only trail. Not to many trails up here are OHM friendly. They are working on opening more up but it is an uphill battle. It has to be marked for OHM to be legal. Lots of places for dual sport plated bikes just not off road bikes..

Thanks for the info, it is much appreciated.

I am admittedly naive about these things, just started riding dirt bikes this year. It blows my mind that a vehicle that weighs 1/2 as much and is 1/2 as wide as an ATV would be restricted on an ATV trail? Stupid me for expecting laws to make sense.

ATVers have a much stronger lobby verses 2 wheelers. Hopefully the 2 wheelers get some good representation when it comes to trails.

Do you know of any other trails in that area that are OHM legal?
