What is up with MN. Have they lost it?

This is corruption at its finest. While small businesses close and people file for unemployment those who put us here give themselves a pay raise.

“all animals are equal some animals are more equal than others”

Remember this when you go to the polls in November

Actually, it was whether to honor the collective bargaining agreements that were in place before the pandemic. The RNC wants to break that contract, and the DFL wanted to honor them. Looks like the Republicans in the Senate will get a chance to reneg on their agreements, however. Probably want to give those raises to their rich buddies, like they always do. Good thing we didn't let them do that with the rainy day fund before this all happened, right?

I had a long typed out reply to this, but it didn't save for some reason.

I'm a state employee, represented by a union. I can certainly see how it looks like a bunch of bull, but I can definitely tell you honoring the previously agreed upon contract isn't giving pay raises to their rich buddies. I'm far from rich. The people I work with are far from rich. We rely on these increases (for most employees it's $0.40-0.75 hr increase). I could definitely make more money in the private sector, but that greatly lacks job security and other benefits (medical, time off, retirement stuff).

You can't just decide to not honor a contract. Delay stuff? Sure maybe. But they can't just cancel it. A contract is a contract.

Unions do seem dirty. And sometimes shitty stuff happens and it's not right. But things are never going to be perfect.

In short, government bad.

Repubicans and Democrats alike, long past time to do away with the two party system and liftime pay and perks for the top dogs in government!

Hell the entire government as a whole cut be cut by atleast 50% and jon and jane doe U.S. citizen taxpayer would be far better off!
